Aluminum series features
According to the different metal elements contained in the aluminum plate, the aluminum plate can be divided into 9 series, and the following is a gradual introduction.
Aug 01,2024
1 series: containing more than 99.00% aluminum, good electrical conductivity, good corrosion resistance, good welding performance, low strength, can not be strengthened by heat treatment. Application: High purity aluminum (aluminum content of more than 99.9%) is mainly used in scientific experiments, chemical industry and special purposes.
Series 2: Aluminum alloy with copper as the main compound element. Manganese, magnesium, lead and bismuth are also added for machinability. For example: 2011 alloy, pay attention to safety protection during melting (harmful gases will be produced). 2014 alloy with aerospace industry, high strength. The 2017 alloy is a little less strong than the 2014 alloy, but it is easier to work. 2014 Can be strengthened by heat treatment. Disadvantages: intergranular corrosion tendency is serious. Applications: Aviation industry (2014 alloy), screws (2011 alloy) and industries with higher temperatures (2017 alloy).
3 series: Aluminum alloy with manganese as the main alloying element, can not be strengthened by heat treatment, good corrosion resistance, good welding performance. Good plasticity. (Close to super aluminum alloy). Disadvantages: Low strength, but can be strengthened by cold work hardening. It is easy to produce coarse grains during annealing. Application: oil guide seamless tube (3003 alloy) used in aircraft, cans (3004 alloy).
Series 4: Mainly silicon, not commonly used. Some 4 series alloys can be strengthened by heat treatment, but some 4 series alloys cannot be heat-treated. Hr
5 series: Mainly magnesium. Good resistance, good welding performance, good fatigue strength, can not be strengthened by heat treatment, only cold processing to improve strength. Application: Handle of lawn mower, aircraft fuel tank conduit, body armor.
Series 6: Mainly magnesium and silicon. Mg2Si is the main strengthening phase and the most widely used alloy at present. 6063, 6061 are used most, others 6082, 6160, 6125, 6262, 6060, 6005, 6463. 6063, 6060 and 6463 have relatively low strength in the 6 series. The strength of 6262, 6005, 6082 and 6061 is relatively high in the 6 series. Characteristics: medium strength, good corrosion resistance, good welding performance, good process performance (easy to extrude forming) good oxidation coloring performance. Application: interactive tools (e.g. car luggage rack, door, window, body, heat sink, compartment shell)
7 series: mainly zinc, but sometimes a small amount of magnesium and copper are added. Among them, the superhard aluminum alloy contains zinc, lead, magnesium and copper alloys close to the hardness of steel. The extrusion speed is slower than 6 series alloy, and the welding performance is good. 7005 and 7075 are the highest grades in the 7 series and can be strengthened by heat treatment. Application: aviation (aircraft bearing components, landing gear), rockets, propellers, aerospace.
Eight series: Aluminum alloy is more commonly used 8011 belongs to other series, most of the applications are aluminum foil, and the production of aluminum rods is less commonly used.
Series 9: Aluminum alloy is a spare alloy.
